Why is it okay?




I am not a politician. In fact, I hate politics. But I do see situations where we need to make changes. America is a great country, but we have our faults.

Freedom. This nation was started so we could have freedom.

The Declaration of Independence says "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."


In America we want to preserve our freedom, we are proud of it. But does that mean that we should give a murderer the option to kill a person legally, or not? Or if we already know that this murderer wants to kill a person, stop him and arrest him? Or at least protect the person the murderer is trying to kill? Why then, do we say that abortion: the killing of unborn children, is a legal choice for someone to make? We have "certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." LIFE. Then why is it legal to take life: murder babies? Babies that would've grown up to be people like you and I?

Some people say it doesn't apply to these unborn children because we don't know when life starts. But we do know that these unborn babies become life and turn into everyday people.

Say there was a law that said it is illegal to kill frogs. Just say. Would killing a tadpole be wrong? It is not a frog yet. It's just a tadpole. But it becomes a frog, so yes, it would be killing a frog, and therefore (in our example) illegal.

And if it is illegal to "disturb the eggs or nests of geese" and kill adult geese, then why is it okay to kill human life? Why is it illegal to destroy or kill the eggs? Because those eggs will crack open one day and turn into geese, which are illegal to kill.

So why, I ask, have we convinced ourselves that taking human life is okay? We are GUARANTEED the rights of LIFE in the Declaration of Independence.

So why is abortion legal?

9/11: On The Tenth Anniversary


The events of 9/11 were catastrophic. Thousands of lives had been lost and many have stories to tell relating to 9/11. The terrorist's knocked down one of America's strong points, they took away the lives of American citizens. But we are still "One Nation Under God" and God, is the one thing nobody, anywhere, can take away from us.



I can't help but think about what God thinks about 9/11? God is a God who hates sin. And killing thousands of people is a sin. But Jesus bore our sins. God couldn't look at His son, Jesus, because he had the sins of the world on his shoulders. He had the sin of the terrorist attack on 9/11 on His shoulders and along with my sins, too. And He died to set the whole world free, terrorist or not.




So today, on the tenth anniversary of 9/11, I challenge you to remember that we can cling to the one thing that can never be taken away from us: Our God. A loving God who sent his Son, Jesus, to die for the sins of the world, knowing the cost. And then God raised Him three days later conquering the grave! Jesus conquered death so we might see Him and our loved ones again, in a perfect place without sin.

Take A Walk

Do you ever just randomly take a walk? I did last night. And I talked with my Creator. I talked to Him like a close friend or a mentor.

"...we will walk in the name of the Lord our God for ever and ever." Micah 4:5

Sometimes we just need to get away. Get away from everything, embrace nature and talk. Just you and God. A one on one conversation with the One who loves you most. Time to get to know Him intimately and for you to open up your heart to him. You will grow closer to Him and love him all the more. At least I did. Sometimes we just need to get away from all distractions and talk with God.
So, I suggest you take a walk and get talking. :)

Give It Up

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28

Recently I had a hard decision to make.
Being a teenager means that more decisions I can make on my own. As a kid your parents always make decisions for you, to your best interest. As I'm getting older my parents are starting to ask me to make the decision, "It's your life." Sometimes decisions are easy, sometimes they are hard. This decision was a hard one for me.

I wasn't sure what to do. I didn't want to do it, but I wasn't sure if I should just do it anyways. I didn't know which was the right answer. I went back and forth. I really did not know what to do. So I gave it up to God. I said something like, "If this is what you want me to do. I'll do it. If not or not right now, I won't. Please make the decision for me. It's your decision God. My life is yours, so it's your decision."

Then I sighed and let it go. Surprisingly after that I wasn't worried about. The next day Mom called me over and told Me that she and Dad had made the decision that I wouldn't do it right now, but later. I was soooooooooooooo happy. I really wanted to do it later, but I wasn't sure if doing it now was the thing I was supposed to do. I was so happy and so thankful.

My point is this, not all decisions are for us to make. Our lives are Christ's, it's his decision. So I ask His opinion before I ever jump into something. And it's so nice to place the pressure of a decision on His shoulders and you know He'll make the right choice. So, let God make the decisions in your life. You will feel His love and power. :)

"In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will," Ephesians 1:11

More

I don't know about you. But I want God more. I love my Creator and He makes me joyful. I'm very blessed.
I want more of His love and I want to love Him more. What an awesome God we have!

The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.
Zephaniah 3:17

Christ gives me so much more pleasure than any earthly thing. I thank Him for the talents and dreams he has given me. I need no more. I want Him more. I love Him. Thank you God. :)

This world is always telling us that we need more or better things. God is the only One who is sufficient enough for all our wants. You could have everything, but without Christ you have nothing.

What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?
Mark 8:36

This world is constantly telling us that if you do this or have that you'll be happy.
But these things don't fill us. They're empty. They are missing something. Something the world doesn't have... We recieve the joy of the Lord, by obeying His commands.

...Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.
Nehemiah 8:10

But Christ can offer so much more! He is stronger, more powerful, more loving and more beautiful than anything this world has to offer. He is more!

What will happen if the world ends tomorrow?

"Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about it’s self."

Matthew 6:34


We like to do just the opposite don’t we? Sometimes it’s silly things- What am I going to wear? What am I going to do? How am I going to get this done? When am I going to get that done?

Then other times more serious things- Where I am I going to college? Who am I supposed to marry? Where am I going to live?



Supposedly in December 2012 the world’s going to end. I personally don't believe so. Although, some do believe it.
In Mark 13:32 it says-

“No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father

Comforting, Hugh? So basically we know the world will not end some time in December 2012. Or any other time we think it is, for that matter.

But don’t get me wrong- don’t put your feet back on the table and flick through the TV. Just because we don’t know when it’s coming, doesn’t mean its not going to come. If Jesus is going to come back in a decade will you be ready? How about a year? A month? A week?
What about tomorrow? What about today? What about right this very second as your reading this? Hmmm?

I don’t want Him to come back when I’m yelling at my sister, watching something I shouldn’t watch or even playing a game. I hope when Jesus comes back I’ll be praying, or singing praises to Him or helping someone in need or at church.

Scary thought Hugh? We all assume we’re going to be ready when he comes back. But will we? Or a more important question: Are we ready? He could come back today.

The Future



I think about my future a lot. Being a teen I have my whole life ahead of me. I have to learn how to drive, get a job, do high-school work, decide where to go college, ect. I get worried and stressed sometimes thinking of all the stuff I have to get done in a couple of years. And what if my choice on what to do isn't the right one?

I've learned to take comfort in Christ. This verse has helped me: "All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be." -Psalm 139:16. It is my new favorite verse. God already knows what path in life you are going to take. He already planned it. These things do not take Him by surprise.


God holds the whole world in His hands and He holds our future. We need to trust God.

Happiness In Christ

God is an amazing God. He works in mysterious and hidden ways.

I've realized: just yesterday how much happier I am when I give something up to God. When I make it about Him to bring Him glory, I have a sense of peace and happiness that I knew was from Him.

I get joy in surrendering to Christ and doing His will. I love my God, my Creator. He is everything I need. He is my King. The things of this world do not please me. They may keep my entertained or happy for a time, but I do not belong here and I am happier when I am in Christ.

And sometimes when you are down the most and you have to rely on Him, you find new strength, hope and happiness that only Christ can give. It's in those dark and scary times that we find Joy, because we are forced to rely on our Creator and He gives us the hope, love and courage to carry on.

Be Open




Recently I have noticed that I enjoy people more when they are open. We all don't want to be open because we feel we are exposing ourselves too much. We don't want to be made fun of in that area because the pain would be greater.

But you benefit others more when you are open and honest about things. In everyday conversations. Whether it's admitting you don't know what something is or saying what you truly believe, even when everyone else thinks what you believe in is stupid. Because there might just be somebody in the crowd who needs to hear that.

We tend to put on masks a lot. Pretend we have everything together and life is going great. We don't like to admit that we are 'not as great' as others think we are. That we are human. That we make mistakes and have gone through what you are going through. When you be open and honest: real, people find you more relatable and you may encourage others who are going through what you are going through, by your positive and honest example.

My friends have taught me that and encouraged me by being honest and real about life. Thank you for your examples and friendships. And I encourage and challenge us all to be honest and real and to take off our masks of security.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead...



Christ died for our sins, so we might live for Him. He paid the price- so we didn't have to. He loved us enough to die for us, though we are sinful and God HATES sin. He still died for us.

Philippians 2:8
And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death— even death on a cross!

Jesus could've easily avoided it. He was fully God and fully man. He had the authority and power to do whatever he wanted. God created us and we sinned, yet he still loves us and was willing to pay the price for us though we don't deserve it. He died for us disgusting, dirty, rotten sinners, so we could spend eternity with our pure, sinless, perfect God. Wow.


Matthew 26:53
Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels?


Praise be to Christ for his love and sacrifce for us. So we might live with Him. HE HAS RISEN!

God Is Good


God IS good. Even when we aren't. He is faithful, even when we are faithless. He is just even when we are unjust. He is pure and holy and we are corrupt and full of sin. He loves us, even when we don't love him.

God and his great love for us is amazing! It's out of this world! (literally)

I find strength in the fact that Christ came as a man. He lived through what we live through, the temptations, the unjustness and cruelty of this world: he is not foreign to it. He wants us to endure this life so that we might enjoy the marvels and glories of heaven and be with God. There is a light and the end of the tunnel.

So when life is rough, find hope and renewed strength in our Creator. God is good-- all the time.

Where Is Freedom?


For school I am studying American History and I have reached the Civil War. I am reading about the cruelty of slavery and the horrors. But I am also reading about the men and woman who stood up and made a stand for a moral wrong. Slave and free, white and black stood next to each other and fought against the evils of slavery.

What has happened to that generation? Yes that was in the 1800s and we are now in the 21st century, but a wrong is wrong. We still aren't free, America. What about human trafficking? Did you know today, there are more people held in slavery than at the height of the transatlantic slave trade? And that more than 14,000 people are trafficked into the U.S. each year?*




As I read about the slavery in the 1800s, I fool myself into thinking: "If I was there during that time, I'd do something to stop it!" Would I? Human Trafficking: Modern-Day Slavery is going on today. People like Harriet Tubman, Martin Luther King Jr., Harriet Beecher Stowe and many, many others fought for freedom and justice. What about now? We still aren't free!!

“These people are being held in captivity, in some cases in chains… A couple of workers literally forcibly busted out of a truck in which they were held against their will. So, the norm there is a disaster, and the extreme is slavery. And this is taking place in the United States of America.” – Senator Bernie Sanders
And what about the innocent children being murdered through abortion? They aren't free. They can't make choices: but if they could I'm sure they would choose to live. I'm not saying give an unborn baby the right to vote! I'm saying that wrong is wrong! And people need to still stand up and fight for what is right! We are America! The Land of the Free! But are we? To God alone be the glory!

Beautiful In Every Way




As girls we want to feel beautiful. And this world bombards us with images and tells us we need this or that to "get the guy" or "look beautiful". You need to have shorter shorts and lower tops etc.

Sometimes I feel like I am the only one standing for Modesty and nobody cares.

God thinks we are beautiful. He made us in His image. And Christ is beautiful!!! Outward appearance is nothing to Christ: your True Lover. Its your inner beauty that counts. Eternity is such a long time we can't even grasp it. And our time on earth is so short. We are to store up treasure for ourselves in heaven during our short time on earth. Outer beauty and its benefits last so short and inner beauty benefits for eternity. So do we went want to dwell on outer beauty or inner beauty?

Rocking the World: We are the Next Generation


Have you ever really thought about that? We’re the next generation! Think of all the leaders in this world. That’s going to be us! You could be the next Michael Jackson!
But what if we aren’t doing the right thing now?


We all could be bullies now, and become the world’s worst gangsters tomorrow.
We all could drink a little too much now, And be the drunk driver that killed someone tomorrow.
We all could be the person that hates everyone and everything now, and be the leader of World War three, tomorrow.
We all could be Drug-addicts now, and not exist tomorrow.

I don’t mean to scare you but this could happen. If all we do is play video games, watch T.V, surf the Internet and hang around the house for all of our teen years, we’ve just wasted one of the most awesome times of our lives!

You’re thinking- Well, playing video games, watching T.V, surfing the Internet, and hanging around the house, are the most awesome parts of my life!

Really? Are they? Have you ever watched too much T.V and were totally sick and bored with it? Then you tried a video game, and it kept you content for a while but then you were bored with it too? This is what the bible says in

Philippians 4:12-13

“I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.”


What is it saying? It’s saying that when we are doing God’s work we will always be content. The little pleasures of life seem to make you happy but later they could harm you.

So get up off your butt and do God’s work! Now, Hmm… What can we all do today?…

We all can fight abortion today, and save millions of lives tomorrow!
We all can learn an unusual language today, and translate the Bible into that language tomorrow!
We all can help one another today, and keep the world at peace tomorrow!
We all can write a book today, that will change the world tomorrow!
We all can donate a little money to charity today, and raise millions of dollars for that same charity tomorrow!
We all can tell someone about Christ today, And save that person from living a painful eternity in the fires of hell tomorrow!
We all can start something small today, that God will make BIG tomorrow!

We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us! We will give our utmost for His highest! We can change the world, If we do it for God.
Nothing is impossible with God!

You may be thinking- I’m out in the boonies! I’m a nobody! I’m to busy! My friends would think I’m a loser! I don’t talk well! I’m scared! I can’t do it physically or mentally! I lie a lot; no one would believe me!

Nothing is impossible with God! If God want’s you to do this, he’ll make a way!

We need to get up and do something positive for Christ! Sometimes I see or think about all the lost people in this world, and I feel depressed.

I would hate to look back on my life and say- “I could’ve witnessed to this person, but I wanted to chat on email.”

Or- “I could’ve been nice to this person, but instead I didn’t want to talk to them, because they were ‘weird’.”

Think of all the lost people out there that need saving. They may not even want to be saved.
Or know that they need saving. But with God nothing is impossible!

We have so little time to do what God wants us to do. And how do we spend it? Watching TV, on the Internet, cell phones I could name a billion things!

But we need to change this world! This world is painted with evil and strung by lies.
We need to spread God’s light to brighten the dark corners of the earth and undo the knot of lies.
We need to do something! Something Big! WE CAN CHANGE THE WORLD!
It may start small, but with God…

What? I couldn’t here you-- Say it again? What did you say? Say it just a little louder...
Oh!
“NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD!”

The Reward of Surrender

This is a pre-written post that I had written before I ever had a blog. I thought I would share it with you. I wrote it on May 2, 2010...

Seeing the title you may be asking, "Surrender is a reward?" What I mean by surrender is giving it up to God. “God in your timing and your plan.”

I’ve experienced that recently. I got email. Most of you are like. "Cool. I got mine years ago.”

Yeah well, It’s in God’s timing. I surrendered my dream to set up this blog. And getting my email was part of the blog thing. You have to have an email address to set up the blog. So now, again I’m waiting on God (trying to be patient) for starting my blog.

He has a plan and it will be fulfilled in His timing. Also we’ve wanted a dog for years, I didn’t specifically pray for one for a while. But my Mom found this really cool dog online at a shelter, she asked Dad and he said yes as long as the dog’s right for our family and he likes him.

First you need to know a little bit about my Dad. My dad doesn’t like animals, period. Well to be more specific: he does not like owning animals. So this is a miracle that we have a dog! I’m not sure how far away my blog is from being real. But today is May 2nd, 2010.

I kind of unknowingly surrendered the idea of having a dog. I just figured we’d get a dog one-day and that day probably won’t happen for a while. I REALLY WANTED A DOG!

Once I surrendered He gave it to us in His timing which I guaranty was better than mine!

I don’t know when I’ll get my blog, but know it’s up if you’re reading this. I know it will happen. It’s going to happen; in His timing.


That was a while ago... Yet I re-discovered that today. I was suddenly asked a big question that seemed to need to be answered right then. I didn't know what to do. I left the question un-answered, but I figured that God will decide. It's my future, but a future of living like Christ, So I trust Him and His decision. The Reward of Surrender. I felt it as soon as I released the decision to Him.

Rich



I thought this was a powerful little movie. It is true we are blessed with SO much and we are called to give. But as Jesus says, "I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." Matthew 19:23-24

Though you may have little as my Dad says, "There is always someone wealthier than you, and always someone poorer than you."

So you, are rich in the eyes of those who have less than you, therefore we are ALL called to give. And remember, we will be rewarded.

Super Bowl


Today is Super Bowl Sunday. Millions of people will watch. Some for the commercials others for the wonderful sport of football. Have you ever been to a game, not just football, where you're team scores or something and you and the other fans shout and cheer and whistle?
You get this cool feeling. You are high-five-ing with people you have never met and everyone is excited you can barely hear a thing above the excited yelling of the fans and you get this cool feeling. Like an adrenaline rush. The whole stadium erupting in cheers!
That feeling. It feels so good. So, on earth if something is that exciting and people are cheering that loud: imagine Christ's return!
Every tribe, every tongue and every nation praising the King of kings! Our God's triumphant return!! People will be praising God and loving one another. Imagine the day, of Christ's return.
Another point I want to make is this: My favorite part of the Super Bowl is when one of the teammates praise the Lord for what he has done for them. Sometimes it's from the losing team, sometimes the winning team. But that, to me is WAY more exciting then my favorite team winning the Super Bowl. Think about how you can praise God this week.
Praise him for the many blessings he gives us each and every day! Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord, God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come!!!!!! (Revelation 4:8)

Barlow Girl-I Believe In Love



I posted this today, because this song and part of what she says before it, is what I have been feeling. (Not that it's the best video. lol) If you read my other post Faith you get a glimpse of what I have been feeling.

I had believed or something close to that, that my prayer would be answered and when it wasn't I didn't understand and I felt rejected; though I know that is not the case. I talked with God last night saying, that after that prayer not being answered I wasn't sure what to do or to believe. I told Him I still believe in Him and His love, but as for faith I have little. This song seemed to sing what I have been feeling. God still loves me and I Him, I'm not going to stop believing just because a prayer wasn't answered, but I still don't get it.

Guess that is faith as well. To believe that it was part of God's perfect plan and maybe now is just a time for my faith to be tested. So in that case I will stand strong In God. Though I may struggle; God loves me and will help me if I only ask, which I haven't... Maybe that is my problem. So here is a glimpse of me and I hope that whatever you may be going through, that this will help you as well. God Bless.

Faith

A friend had a sever stroke last week. I didn't know him that well. But I knew he was a really good friend to my Grandparents and my Mom.

We had been reading Why Pray? yesterday and this verse was in it,
"Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree for anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven."
Matthew 18:19
So my sister and I had decided to pray for him to be up and walking by today. We prayed and prayed and prayed. Then today Mom told us that he had passed. What?
I am so confused does it not say "Ask and you shall receive?" in Matthew 7:7? And in John 14:14
"You may ask me for anything in my name and I will do it."

"I don't get it?" I asked. I feel like God has failed me; but I am sure it was for His righteous purpose. I don't get it, but I accept it. I guess that is the meaning of faith: stepping out into the unknown, trusting the unseen, believing in the one true God who is all powerful.

Maybe it was my faith: not trusting. I admit I didn't think He would get up and walk, but I did believe He'd perhaps open His eyes or say something. I know I have used this verse before, but I am going to use it again.

"But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind."
James 1:6

I do have faith in this: God has a plan and it is perfect. It may not be what I want or thought, but it is perfect. God is perfect; in Him I will trust.

We Will Rule


I have been reading an amazing book called : Why Pray? by John F. DeVeries. It is a really cool book and definitely worth reading. He made a cool point: "I am being trained to reign with Christ for eternity."

I have never thought of it that way. Rule? Me? With God, the Ultimate Ruler? WOW!!

1Corinthians 6:1-3

Or do you not know that the Lord's people will judge the world? And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge trivial cases? Do you not know that we will judge angels?

Wow. I never thought of it that way, we, will reign with God! We are God's chosen children to reign with Him forever; because he loves us. Even though He knows we don't deserve it. Wow, what a God!
To God alone be the glory!

Pity Party

A pity party; I just had one. Why? Cause I feel bad for myself. But there are other people out there with more worry and more fears than I. Worry if they will eat, drink or die. I worry about insignificant things.
God will provide for us. It is better to instead push aside our pity party and instead praise God for all He has done.

There is nothing in this world we need. Only Christ and his unfailing love. We should reach for higher things. We should pursue heavenly things. It's a New Year, there are more coming. We have a short time here on earth, but we have eternity in heaven. I don't want to waste my little time here. We have so little time to do the Lord's will here and what we do here defines our eternal destiny.

"Whom have I in heaven but You? And earth has nothing I desire besides You. My flesh and my heart my fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."
Psalm 73:25-26

We will have treasure in heaven or not. God loves and forgives us and he puts circumstances in our lives to shape us.
Praise be to God for His unfailing love and mercy!
